Frequently Asked Questions
I. Permissions
Q: Why are the permissions of PP-Products set as they are? Can I change them?
A: Permissions in SL are a delicate thing, every creator has to make decisions. And of course, something like yes copy/yes transfer kills buisness. It depends on the item as well - a non-copy clothing item is annoying. A non-copy grotto, prefab house or huge waterfall can be very annoying.
We pack larger structures into rezzers, for your convenience. A rezzer is made of some scripts and it uses those scripts to build your structure. Most of the times this works very well - but what happens when you're logged out just at that moment? When you placed the rezzing-box a little bit too close to the border of your land? Everything will be a mess, you will loose your structure.
Because of that, everything we pack into rezzers has copy rights: you can rez as many structures as you want with the one rezzbox you've bought, nothing bad can happen to you.
Side-effect: the item inside a rezzer can not be transfer, you can't give it to someone else, you will allways stay the owner.
(And you're not allowed to do so: our products are not meant to be resold.) As the item can't be transfer, you can't give it back and refunds aren't possible.
All sales are final: Bought is bought, no exceptions. As we are changing to vendor based selling, you will have the possibilty to buy as a gift. Also, you can check here http://www.xstreetsl.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&MerchantID=41413 for a selection of our products.
You can't change the rights of an item you've bought (unless it's full permissions, ours aren't).
We don't change the given rights of our products, because we thought about it before we set them and it's too much work to do it lateron as a lot of our items are very complex.
Q: But why are some of your items, esp. grottos, not set to modify?
A: They were. But times are changing and a copy and modify item makes it too easy for scammers, content thieves and copy-cats. We are very sorry about that, but our work has been ripped apart and copied in such a nasty way, we had to do something. Setting items to no-mod isn't the final solution and far from being elegant, but it helps and we can stay here inworld and care for our honest customers. We provide a huge variety of different styles and sizes for you to make this no-mod-matter matter less. We put much time in making reasonalbe linksets, every item can be customized to a certain extend, comprehensive descriptions are included in each package.
II. Sizes & Building
Q: How do I know whether an item fits on my land? How do I build it up?
A: We put some 'measure-kits' around our sims, just take a copy, they are free. Inside you'll find everything you need to find out the size of the lot you have - just sqm doesn't mean much, not every piece of land is square;)
In addition to that, we display every item in real-size and give the footprint. Check it out before you buy!
Building is easy! Large stuctures are packed into rezzers, a set-up info is included. Please read it before you do anything else!
If an item isn't packed into a rezzer, just use the edit-tools to position it.
For general information about building (and a lot of very useful other stuff), watch Torley Linden's video tutorials: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Video_Tutorials
III. Not for sale
Q: Can I buy sounds, scripts, textures, parts of products or anything I've seen on your sims that isn't on sale?
A: No. Some things, we just make for fun. Some stuff is decoration or part of a package. If it's not on sale, you can't buy it. We never sell textures - either we made them ourselves to give our products an exclusive look or we've bought them and aren't allowed to. Exception are the textures we designed for beeing sold - they are in vendors and obviously on sale.
We don't sell water animation or water particle scripts. We sell whole, complete, tested products we've put a lot of time into and we won't rip them apart and sell parts of them.
Exception again are our Kits and packages, which are on sale.
IV. Custom orders
Q: I want something special! Can I order custom work?
A: Not really. We are genrally very busy and don't do custom jobs. We have a lot of ideas and rather build our own stuff than fullfill tasks - sorry, but we are here to have some fun, too! If you have an interesting, large project, please drop a Notecard either into Siss Truss' or Sam Storks inventory. (Interesting means something very far away from being a mall or club. Large means at least sim-size.)
V. Scammers
Q: Someone sold an PP-item to me, but I don't own it. Can you do something about that?
A: Yes - write a report. No one is allowed to sell our products. You can only buy them on Perfect Prefabs Lime, Perfect Prefabs Coral, Perfect Prefabs Purple or Perfect Prefabs Cyan. Do yourself a favour: Never ever buy from peoples inventory, it is very likely you will be betrayed by a scammer.
Terms of Service
I. Return, Refund
If an item is copy, return or refund isn't possible. No exceptions will be made. If an item has modify rights, we won't give refunds either. We try our best to give you all the information you need before you buy to avoid unhappyness. Please think twice before you buy. If you are unsecure, just contact us before you buy and we will be happy to answer your questions.
II. Losses
It still happens from time to time, that inventory items vanish. Clean cache, then relogg - most of the times, your items will be there again. If you still miss something, drop a notecard into the creators inventory. Don't send an IM, they get capped too often. You can alternatively use the customer-support box in our profiles (web-tab) or go to the Help Request section.
In any case: Your request must contain a full record of the transaction (copypaste from your transaction history: www.secondlife.com > your account> account history > transactions history). You have to contact us within 24 hours after purchase. If something happens to your item half a year after you've purchased it, we can't do anything for you - it's just not possible to give something like a lifetime-guarantee for SL-products.
Please understand, we didn't programm Second Life, we are not responsible for losses. We don't need to cover up your inventory losses. But mostly we do it, because we believe that helping each other is much more delightful than earning Lindens.
III. Broken stuff
If you modify items, you do that on own risk. If you break items, i.e. don't follow the set-up info, it's your fault. Our items are quite robust, you have to be very rude or very very stupid to break them - and we don't have rude or stupid customers.
IV. Sell or give away
Two differnt things... If, for example, you want to move and sell your land and there is a grotto from Perfect Prefabs on it, you can leave it there if the next owner wants that. But you can't sell it to him. You will stay the owner of this object. If you sell it, you would do something illegal. But you wouldn't do that, wouldn't you?
If you want to give one of our products as a gift, use the Gift-Certificates you will find inworld or check http://www.xstreetsl.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&MerchantID=41413 for our listings.
V. Rebuild or copy
If our stuff is inspiration to you to build your own stuff - go ahead! If you copy our work and sell it and we find it out - be fast closing your account or we chop you into little pieces. We already did it and believe us, it was fun. For us.
